Amatures.

At least you have a road that reaches diagonally across WA. If Alaska did it would take a lot longer than that
Alaska w/ an area of 1.7m sq/km or 663k sq/Freedom Units compared to Western Australia 2.5m sq/km or 975k sq/Freedom Units I’m not sure about that… But I suppose it’s possible.
It’s not about the overall area, it’s about the shape. Alaska has long legs. WA is very compact for its size.
It’s a really long drive from Utqiagvik to Ketchikan or even Proudhoe Bay to Juneau because you have to wait for climate change to make building the roads feasible
That’s a beautiful resort name
The name? Sure. The hotel itself? Not so much.

It’s also possible to drive through about ten countries in 8 hours in Central Europe.

I think any definition of Central Europe that includes 10 countries is really stretching it. Anyway, Poland-Slovakia-Czechia-Austria-Hungary-Slovenia-Croatia-B&H (8) should be barely possible to visit in an 8-hour trip over much of one former big country.
Well that’s about ten.
And at least 3 are Southern Europe.
Close enough.
Meanwhile, Texas

I think you can also drive in California in a straight line for 16 hours. I mapped it once during a slow work day lol
Yeah, I5 will take you from Mexico to Canada. And that drive across CA is long as shit when you’re going north to South.
And CA has some world-famous high-traffic spots around places like LA, which makes it even worse during commute hours.
San Diego to Oregon is, IMHO, better done as a 2 day drive. And both of those days are still going to suck.
Yeah,we did Vancouver BC to Tijuana and I think about half the drive time was going into and out of LA.
California is pretty similar if you’re going north to South… if you avoid commute hours. Then you’re looking at. 16 hour drive.
Driving through Nebraska is literally hell.
Yes it is.
Do you know that European countries have “states”, too? And that this person crossed several of them (how many depends on the route taken) on the tour through Germany should be clear, too.
Sir, this is a shitpost
Yes, indeed.
ITT: bunch of amateursThat’s my ganja smuggling route
And how many German “Länder” did that trip drive through? Drive for 8 hours, still in US; drive for 8 hours, still in Germany would be more correct.
Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled shitposts…
4 to 8.
Depending on the exact starting point and route.
Well… as there is no speed limit on german highways, you could theoretically visit every part of germany within ten minutes including one stop at a donerman, to get a doner.
Germany has the Autobahn system and thus relatively short travel times. I’m pretty sure even smaller countries like Latvia have two points separated by an 8+ hour drive!
🇱🇻 stronk!
Now I’m curious what speed these mapping sites assume for the autobahn when predicting travel time.
Idk about Google Maps but Mapy.cz allows buses to go hella fast

How?
You can see the real time, which means the 1 min is pulled from a timetable, from 2 stations actually very close together (and named similar, too). They imported OSM data wrong, one of the stops is at the nearest road segment to 50°N 10°E. It has been fixed since.
Edit: actually not quite!

Planning a trip by public transport therefore falls back to an hour-long walk from the nearest stop in Arnstein, for a total travel time of about 5 hours (as opposed to 1 hour by car) from the real Zella-Mehlis.
It takes 14 hours to drive all they way through Florida, north to south
laughs in south florida
First panels point is kind of weak, that’s driving through the narrow part of Michigan, slivers of the narrow parts of 2 states, a sliver of Illinois, and the narrow part of Wisconsin…
which is only five states.Texas is an obvious example of a long drive, but also try going through Georgia, lengthwise. That’s at least a 7 hour drive.Edit: nvm I see Iowa now. Still is something that only works when you start at a specific location and is probably one of the very very few examples of getting through more than a few states in 8 hours in the Midwest.
I have walked through 4 states in less than a second. Utah>Colorado>New Mexico >Arizona. USA is so small! Even a baby could crawl it.
https://search.brave.com/images?q=four+corners+USA+image&source=images
That route goes through Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
Oh is that Iowa? I can barely see the border.
Alright, it’s technically correct at 6 states. Probably the only spot on the Midwest where you could pull this off.
They both never leave the country
If you appear to be “alternative” in any way, do not drive through Texas.
I have driven through Texas three times, and I have gotten pulled over and searched every time. The cops would love to have any excuse to seize your car and cash, they hate you.
If you absolutely must drive through Texas, at least remove your Darwin fish and any political stickers, get a hair cut, remove your face piercings, and wear a cowboy hat or baseball cap or something.
I’m not exaggerating and this is not a joke.
I have lived there for 3 years before and can confidently say u have had exceptionally bad luck, or have a BOLO out on ur car.
With most states in the south it also depends on when you are there, where you’re going, and how you are getting there.
Around holidays they are out in force to deal with drunk drivers and make their yearly quota off speeding tickets and people traveling for the holidays. They know that people from out of state are the least likely to come back and fight the ticket. They are more likely to just mail the fine in and be done with it.
Certain towns are also so small that they know the locals on site, so they will stop just about anything they don’t recognize if you give them the slightest excuse. These are usually the towns off the beaten path that don’t get much traffic, so if they think they can get some ticket money from you, you are getting stopped.
Driving through some shit town that annexed a portion of a busy road just so they can lower the speed limit by 15mph for 1000ft and stop people for speeding while you have a cracked taillight, or one held together with red tape, is begging to be stopped.lived there for 3 years
So you’re saying the shitty Texas cops would treat out of state drivers differently?
Yes, actually that’s really common practice in all states. Out of staters are always tagged more for infractions because their far less likely to try to fight it in court and more likely to just pay the fine. This is what happens when police departments have quotas to meet :(

Great. Now do New England
