What angers me the most is how the tech media is not even entertaing the thought of a possibility that the currently accelerating circular finance bubble is going to implode within the next 3 years. It is boardering disinfirmation.

memes@lemmy.world•awkward situation—it happened to me personally... twice
2·9 days agoI won’t body shame Madonna. What I will shame here is for her shocking lack, of the ability to sing… for a singer. For whatever reason, she was performing a live act in the break of a Eurovision Song Contest and I don’t know if the rules also extended to non competing acts regarding live singing. In any case, she was singing live, no doubt about it and she was bad, even compared to Song Contest bad. The choir had to carry her through the song.

Titties maybe, but I am definitely not going to be tempted by those foul cancer sticks.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I move out of the USA with little to no money?
3·18 days agoIf you plan for mid to long term, have a look at the job market, if you can work for a foreign company with presence near you in the US. If you have a qualified enough job there, it may be possible to relocate to another company location. If a company wants you there, it can resolve many of the biggest hurdles and also enable you to go towards permanent residency permits. The readiness to relocate abroad might be even a bonus in a job interview.

News@lemmy.world•As Trump squeezes the International Criminal Court, more countries are leaving
3·28 days agoWell, Venezuela is heavily “influenced” by the US currently as well. So no surprise it does what the US wants it to do on the ICC.
I think what people miss here is that this is Americanisation that is the norm in most US movies. While the original movies were distributed by Warner Brothers, the producers were largely British, so were many other important people in the making of that movie. So they apparently stayed their ground in staying closer to the British source material.
In the remake those safeguards are gone. People just realise it because they see the contrast to the original. But look at other US movies, so much of it has fantasy scenarios that are still very “USified”, to not confuse the US audience too much. This is the most obvious when Hollywood takes up a successful foreign movie and makes a complete US “remake”.
Yes, I don’t care if my views align with the slop or not. Just look at that weird tiny door for example.

News@lemmy.world•MapQuest's app surges to No. 1 in Navigation after refusing to rename Lake Ontario
3·1 month agoI know this is just a diversion from Epstein and the Iran war but I am curious, what is the proper procedure in the US for geophical name changes, I doubt it is executive orders, according to the law those executive orders by themselves don’t do anything in this regard, do they?

News@lemmy.world•MapQuest's app surges to No. 1 in Navigation after refusing to rename Lake Ontario
4·1 month agoAn executive order is just that an order towards the employees of his executive. It is neither law nor has it necessarily any relevance for anyone outside of the US administration and it sure as hell has no significance outside of the sovereign borders of the USA.

I am shocked. Shocked!
