lol
Isn’t Steam a lot more feature-rich? I never made an Epic account, it always looked skeezy.
Yes.
Most features are within the embedded web view, though. Valve has frequently added or tweaked features without ever pushing a Steam client update.

In some ways but honestly a good chunk of steam’s features are bloat and unnecessary. Like 99% of the community features.
Kind of crazy for a company like Valve to have such low-hanging fruits around. They are printing money and should have the ressources to put some manpower into improving important things like the startup time of their shop.
At valve, people work on things they want to work on. Evidently no one cared enough or thought it enough of a problem to deal with, but now that doing it pisses on epic? Now it’s fun.
Which is a really bad way to do things - yes, it’s not fun. But they have let hundreds of millions of people wait for years?
Valve and their user base seem to be doing just fine.
I think noone cared because every software start is slow as shit nowadays. Steam was kinda average at best.
Lol

I’m kind of surprised to see the reddit like worship of steam here. As someone who has a 23 y/o account, a week into release; I don’t really have that many positive things to say. Like it’s okay, scraping the barrel okay. It could be worse isn’t something to banter around. 1.7 Billion in revenue in September is like cheering on Walmart.
okay your highness 🥱
Thank you, my liege.
So AI got Steam to get off their ass and update their client. Good job AI!
