Cocktails are so expensive these days. I have a very high alcohol tolerance and it’s 10-20$ as bare minimum for <1$ of ingredients. 5 negronis + tip and you’re down at least a 100$. I’m more of a smoker these days but taking people out is such a luxury. If you have 3 friends visiting and buy couple rounds you’re in a triple digit bill already.

Nature photography. I’m not particularly good but I have my camera always charged and when I feel down I just go to the jungle and shoot up some birds. Makes me feel better every time - there’s something in our old lizard brains that get relaxed by exposure to visuals of outdoor beings be it birds, trees or just grass fields.
Seek is great app for this which is basically Pokémon Go for nature photography. People are often surprised by how much diversity they have in their own neighborhoods and a bit of gamifications is all some need to finally get out!

Yet half of the ads on Mega platforms are literal scams

This is not quite true because “dose makes the poison”. Foragers would have protocols to evaluate just by dosing. You can safely lick most berries and mushrooms and use that as a strong identifier.

A lot of negativity online and in this thread but imo that doesn’t really represent the world. There’s more career paths and options today then there ever was. If you have no responsibilities (family etc) then you should allow yourself to explore and time to build something.
Don’t be afraid of weird or “low skill” - everything builds skills and connects to more opportunities but most importantly now more than ever it’s important to be quitter - so you can actually leave at diminishing returns point and take advantage of new opportunities.
Ha I have this for my dog and I recommend it as it’s basically dog shoes that are so much easier to put on.

Nosensical. I wrote an entire paragraph on ai crawlers being bad.

This is not exactly true because web browsers have caching.

It’s 100% a mix of various incompetences. I develop anti fraud systems and deal with cralwers all the time. The web is actually really complex, probably the most complex technology in history of human kind and I’m not even kidding.

Honestly a lot of web is just extremely poorly optimized which is not a problem when you have have 1,000 page requests per day but suddenly you get 10,000 and things start breaking.
Optimizing pages is very easy these days and a good website can serve hundreds of thousands of requests per day same as first 1,000 because caching is extremely powerful.
However, same goes for crawlers which can be really poorly written and extremely unoptimized. This is especially the case with broad crawlers like AI crawlers that crawl all pages as they use a real web browser causing more expense. They use real browsers because websites these days use client side rendering to defer costs to the client AND anti-bot system that require a browser to bypass.
Tl;dr: lots of very bad code
Edit: leave it to luddites to down vote almost 30 years of web dev experience lol

I’m not much of a conspiracy believer but Netanyahu said multiple times on camera that Hamas is good for Israel and given how surveiled Gaza was the theory that Israel allowed the attack is very convincing.

This whole thing is so sad. Dude comes out with “I’m addicted to chatting with LLMs” and people pile on him for what? Not saving a glass of water while 100$ says all yall still eat meat and do a billion times worse than burning some LLM tokens? Disgusting responses all around.
In general the AI ludites are so tiring. I wish this energy would be spent on something actually impactful like murdering animals for entertainment - yes thats your cheese burger - but these addicts are quick to defend their own addiction while sneer at other significantly less harmful ones.
Gonna go burn more tokens just for your sake now.

I don’t think that’s true. Time is relative so it’s only accelerating if you’re in a comfy routine with fewer distinct points of reference. There’s an easy fix for that.
It doesn’t work that way tho
