Definitely a fair question.
We all lived in the same house at the time, and Mom’s name was on the deed, so up until that point we were walking on eggshells to keep things civil until other arrangements were in place.

I still don’t know what Mom’s problem was with her, not that I even care. Before that point, they would each text me “You won’t believe what she said to me!”. I was stick on the middle trying to figure out what really happened, but something my mom said didn’t match with a major detail that she didn’t know about my wife’s past, so I had a feeling she was the one causing the shenanigans. That’s when I suggested the recordings.

My mom told me that she heard my soon-to-be-wife say some really horrible things about her and my kids behind my back.
Whatever she thought that would accomplish didn’t work, because I had already told my wife to start recording her interactions with my mom. (Clearly not my first rodeo)
Mom wasn’t real happy when I told her I’d listen to the audio.

Disappointing others.

As many others have said, I don’t see what it has to do with being part of the resistance, but…
It’s partially true. Once you make above a certain threshold, you lose benefits.
Last year I got a raise at work, which put my household above the income limit for health insurance, so even though I only make a few dollars more each check, I now have to pay two hundred a month for insurance that won’t pay for anything until I’ve covered the $3000 deductable.

For the same reason the stars of Grey’s Anatomy don’t teach at medical schools.
Acting isn’t real.

Oh, I’m SOOOOO sorry that our fun is interrupting your alcoholism. Feel free to down another bottle of wine alone in the corner while muttering about how you’re so much more sophisticated than the rest of us.

I thought of a few stupid things, but everyone talking about kids made me think of this one.
I am strongly against Trickle down suffering.
“I put up with this terrible thing when I was your age, and even though we could stop it from happening to anyone, it’s important that we make YOU suffer through it too.”
Hazing, bullying, unfair labor laws, predatory banking and more. It’s really just the “socially acceptable” cycle of abuse.
I wouldn’t doubt it.
