Lmao they’re learning

Explains a lot about how/why Grok leans the way it does

The standard should be an A/B partition system, lile a lot of phones do. Flash B while booted to A, or Flash A when booted to B. If a flash fails, you can still boot the previous firmware.
Put your hands down, I know about security. The point is after the flash is successfully booted on the new firmware, it can be copied to the other partition to eliminate a regressive boot to old firmware.

Unfortunately also true, and more likely than the Star Trek optimism answer.

WHO USES THEIR PHONE IN THE SHOWER

Science doesn’t really happen if we continually ask “Why do this?” Science happens when we ask “Why not do this?”
If we want to be a galactic civilization, we must first learn to live on worlds otherwise uninhabitable. The engineering challenges we must overcome to make that happen will give us the knowledge and experience we need to make it possible to expand past our solar system. This is a very long term advancent, and what we do today is what our offspring will do with ease.
Other than political roadblocks, the final roadblock to galactic expansion is FTL travel. We have theories on how to make it possible, but we are limited to the engineering and knowledge of our time now. Far future generations will be the ones to discover if and how to make it possible, but they need the foundational knowledge and experience of how to live in space.

This is the real tragedy of the modern data center. In the rush to be number one, they’ve captured the government at the top and use their influence to bypass environmental regulation and pollute at a grand scale just to save a dollar and some construction time. We could have had datacenters running on solar+batteries that could easily make money powering the grid as well, but no, we need to feed the oil machine and we let them run burner turbines unregulated. We could have had datacenters running closed-loop cooling, but no, we let them draw water directly for their cooling systems and dump it unfiltered back into the environment, further polluting it with heavy metals.
As long as one man desires to have more riches than another, this will never be solveable, I’m afraid. The shame.
In an internet funny, the year everyone was obsessed with the song Africa was also the year Africa was rolling tropical storms off the assembly line all thru summer (in the northern hemisphere)

The Machine God, already?

Maybe they have high standards for what they generate, use the models as “fillers” or “finishers” (broadly adding details or patterns to a base sketch, then touching up on any errors or ungeneratable details), or rely on models they’ve vetted for consistent quality? I doubt they’re all using a piss filter chatgpt text to image gen.
LET’S GO!!
It’s the good old copyright Mexican standoff. If it is ruled that decompilations are illegal, that shoots freedom in the foot, and even legal clean-room decomps can be taken out, but also ai models could be much more copyright restricted. It’s both a win and a loss for everyone, as tightening the copyright noose is exactly what companies want, so they have a lot more ammo to shoot at foss projects and competition with.
The other way is that this is considered fair use, as the ai is not verbatim recreating code, it’s recreating its own interpretation of the code, which is a flying spaghetti monster that only looks somewhat like the real thing only if you don’t open the hood. This, of course, opens the door to being able to use ai models to break down things legally, a win for decompilation, a win for security researchers, but also a big L as well, as now obscuring code behind closed source is not good enough.
In either case, hackers and do-bads will run their own models and decompile things faster to find flaws and break stuff. Making it illegal doesn’t stop determined badders from doing it. Pandora’s box is already open, there is no undoing this without society as a whole getting washed away.
