Rule 5. Locking.
Basically test out the different “new, hot, local, subscribed” sorting buttons at the top and you’ll be good to go from there. It is very easy to learn if you were good at reddit. And you can google how to do stuff like set up communities and you’ll be able to find guides :)

After reddit shut their API the creator of the app I use changed over to Lemmy. I kept the app and let go of reddit.
Set your expectations. It’s not Reddit (for better and worse). Reddit has subreddits for nearly every hobby you can think of. On here, you might be lucky to find a few that match your interests. But they might also be desert wastelands.
I have faith in time this will change.
It’s been maybe 2.5 years since I left Reddit. I can’t imagine what it’s like now.
My favorite view is to be on “local” and sort by “today: last 12 hours”.
