This is like saying Sony is losing exclusives to PC because PS emulators exist lol.
I mean yes, that’s exactly what people are saying with this? And it’s kind of true?
It’s kinda like what Syndrome said: “when everyone’s special; no one will be.”
Yes it would be so terrible if everyone could be the best at whatever they wanted to be or even feel valued for whatever they excelled in.
Context clues are huge. Maybe you should try to pick up on some.
werent they already ‘ported’ to pc with rpcs3 and the like
It’s a more subtle but powerful difference, which is recompiling creates native code, which is more expansible and efficient (usually).
Emulation can appear similar but the code remains unchanged, so the system itself has to be emulated to run the non-native code, which (unless the emulator is very efficient) will usually be more limited and slower.
Rpcs3 never ran well for me anyway tbf.
I’ve had success with RPCS3 even on Steam Deck, seems to work way better on Linux from what I’ve seen. Its been greatly improved over the years.
I am on linux. Tbf, I did try it a while ago, so maybe I need to give it another chance.
You know, I always assumed that we’d get a PS4 emulator eventually, thanks to the console running on a PC architecture. I just never thought to consider that we don’t actually need a PS4 emulator, because we can just make the games run natively on PC instead, thanks to the console running on a PC architecture.
Hold on tight to those beta tapes, memory sticks and minidiscs, Sony. Maybe they should have some kind of corporate history training for their leadership about fantasy formats that only exist for one company, but what do us silly consumers know? It’s sure obvious to everyone how hard Valve is losing by getting their platform (along with everyone’s largest game library) to run on anything with a GPU.
This is huge indeed. Wondering if once it’s decompiled they can add functionality on top of it like native mouse support, ultra wide aspect ratios or HDR injection.
