The vast majority of people working in silicon valley aren’t clued in to this and many would change what they do if they did realize the goal. This doesn’t happen because the system trains us to think in terms of short-term challenges and consequences.

I think about 30% of the population would be exhilarated and rally around a false sense of righteous power. About 60% would be absolutely aghast and would make a lot of noise for a few weeks. Then they’d gradually settle into the comfort of being indignant without actually changing anything. After a while the American people would continue doing the same thing they’ve done for the last eight decades: inflicting violence on everyone for the enrichment of a few privileged oligarchs.

Same thing that was happening before I was conceived.
