Gravity looks pretty cool, tho a bit heavy on the install. TapMap: Why are these things such a garish shade of green? Damn hard on the eyeballs.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•QubesOS workstation + homeserver, and DANE for TLS without 3rd party companyEnglish
3·2 months agoI tried QubesOS back in the day. How has it progressed as a desktop. I was always underwhelmed visually. It just seemed rather chunky. Maybe that is intentional.

Of course, if you are going for security, that’s great, but it seemed to me that security and a visually appealing desktop could be blended.
Regardless, widespread burnout
If I were a dev, that would be the number one reason I would not publish any app I created. The constant demands from users, the constant integrations, et al, nah…pass. I am grateful for who do, but that’s just not my bag.
Dell Optiplexe
Picked up a 7020 with the i7-4790 for $125 + an additional $50 USD for 32 GB RAM. I’m running 52 containers on it, and it doesn’t break a sweat. Plus, it costs about $8 USD in electricity. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•[Project] 0807 - a self-hosted ephemeral file host with no accounts and a Tor onion serviceEnglish
0·4 months agoHey, hey, hey! Welcome back @0807.! You’ve made some changes, polished it up a bit, made it selfhostable. Awesome! I could see this being used ‘inhouse’. I’m wouldn’t be comfortable exposing this to the general public tho, for obvious reasons. The internet can be a very beneficial tool, but at the same time be a filthy, rotten, cespool. I’d rather not get dirty. I have bookmarked the source files at https://src.0807.st/, and dropped it in my projects folder. Thanks again for sharing your project.

Didn’t down vote…but not all of us are AI haters. A lot of us also have the unique ability to actually scroll right on by things we are uninterested in without leaving castigating remarks. If I were to launch into a diatribe every time someone mentioned the 'arr stack in here, I think most of you would be like 'Hey man, how about giving it a rest. We get it. You don’t like the ‘arr stack’, and you’d have a valid point.

0·7 months agoMy only real conundrum with AI coding, is totally relying on AI as the dev, then releasing it for public use without really knowing what happens behind the scenes and obviously the security of said app. Now if the dev is using AI as an assistant, and the dev is knowledgeable enough to know that things are operating securely, I’m ok with it.

Love the distinction. LOL
Operational experience is the real prize
Perhaps, but I’ve found that HR likes paper tigers. LOL Not discounting anyone’s hard work at all. I do learn from others more knowledgeable than I. I’ve had a computer of some sort in front of me since the mid 70s with the Altair. Don’t mistake longevity with knowledge tho. What little I do know came from reading, doing, screwing it up, rinse, repeat ad nauseam until success, and then write that shit down because it will come up again more than likely.

'Sup bro. It seems I need to update. Thanks for the heads up. I’ve been enjoying CookTrace so far.
