This would only make since as an example of the Electoral College if you adding something to adjust for everyone’s theoretical impact on the meal.
If every voted but Liz was also paying a larger percentage of the bill than everyone else then it would make sense that her opinion outweighs everyone else.

Technology@lemmy.world•Why is Google still serving dodgy ads?English
5·1 month agoBecause like all ad companies, Google gives way less of a shit if the ads are malicious than they do there being lots of ads displayed.
This image makes me kind of wonder how crap a remake of the dinner meal scene from Hook would come out.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Yes, I use Debian stable. How'd you know?
1·2 months agoHey, those old school Craftsman ratchets and wrenches last forever. My dad bought a set in the 70s, he died in 2023 and they were one of the things I kept in the aftermath and they are way better than the ones I have bought for myself over the years that are much newer.
My advice to anyone these days is if you want it to last get the version of that thing that was being sold in the 1950s-1970s. Maybe the 80’s/90’s depending on what it is. If it was made in the last 20 years it is almost always made to be thrown away in a decade or less.

It is a really good “proving ground” for longer term human habitation of something like a settlement on a foreign body, without being so far away that some kind of rescue is basically impossible should something go wrong.
Also, going from Earth > Moon > Mars, or where ever, is probably less complex from a total at one time payload perspective than trying to move everything you would need for that longer term destination all at once.
Plus as you alluded to, you can’t really put a price on the political good will that comes from doing something like that. The Moon is a cheaper way to get that good will and some experience from point one as a starting point.
