  • While not completely outside the scope of all things that are possible, the likelihood of a black person lynching another black person is about as remote as a black person lynching themselves. Tasia’s not the only black woman who “hung herself” recently, either. There’s been a spate of lynchings ruled as suicides in the south over the last couple of years. Tonea Nicole Miller was found deceased, hanging from a tree in Miami on June 8th this year. Juliana Umba Nzita was found in Charlotte on May 8th. Also ruled a suicide. Yolna Yubrin was found in Orlando on September 28th, 2023. Gloria Bambo was found in McKinney, TX on July 12, 2020.

I’m sure I’ve missed a bunch of other examples. These are all over the South, so it’s not necessarily a serial killer; could just be widespread, old fashioned racism. Still, lots of young black women found hanging from trees, and all of them initially ruled as suicides.

  • It’s a clear violation of 18 USC 597: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/597

Couple of interesting things about this: this covers both the supply side and the demand side of the bribe economy; it’s illegal to offer the bribe, and illegal to accept it. Both are punishable for up to 2 years imprisonment per count. So if the US actually were a nation of laws, that would mean approximately 360 million years of prison for the fat orange traitor, and up to 2 years in prison for everybody who votes Republican thinking they’re going to get $5,000 for it.

Of course, we’re not a nation of laws. Clearly. I mean, Trump has violated the law pretty much every single day (sometimes multiple times per day) that he’s been in office, and nothing negative has happened to him. We’ve all just accepted that our president is a traitor, and that’s just the way things are.
