Oh my. If you didn’t sense the parody in those ads, I fear that satire is lost on you.
That’s kind of the point of Poe’s law…
It was a weak sense of parody. Like what are they parodying? That drug and fast food ads exist? We live in an age of Trumpism… People wearing gold diapers… You think I’m flinch at ads for drugs or meat?
There’s no play or even pushing of limits there. There was no spice to it.
This video demo was 25 minutes out of a game that’s going to be more than 30 hours, most likely. It seems strange to expect to be able to evaluate its satire off of such a small sample.
They parodied how strange our drug ad laws are and how much of a crutch we use drugs as. Then the fast food commercial started by showing a wide ecosystem of animals that were seemingly all killed for one sandwich, because no one can fit a sandwich that big in their mouth; then it labeled it as 30,000 calories, which is about 10-15x what most people will or should eat in a day. Jokes are rarely funnier when someone explains them to you, but you asked what the parody was.
