There are different unemployment numbers but the main one is a person is unemployed if they
- do not have a job
- are actively looking for a job and
- are eligible to be hired
Inmates probably don’t count for 2 and/or 3 and thus would not count as unemployed
Doesn’t the federal rely on polls or something, like it isn’t accurate. And then at the state level if someone goes beyond unemployment payments which is usually only like 6 weeks, I think they also fall into not being considered unemployed anymore but I’m not 100% how they mark that.
That is fucked up.
